The Contour Blade: A Step-by-Step Guide to Facial Sculpting

The contour blade is one of those tools that looks simple but works in ways that go deeper than most people expect. It is not a gimmick. Used consistently and correctly, it stimulates lymphatic drainage, improves circulation, reduces puffiness, and over time, genuinely reshapes the contours of the face.

Here is how to use it properly.

Before you begin

The contour blade works best on skin that has just absorbed a face oil. The oil acts as a slip agent, allowing the blade to glide smoothly without dragging. Apply two to three drops of your chosen oil, press it gently into the skin, and wait thirty seconds before picking up the blade.

Never use the contour blade on dry skin. Without slip, you are pulling rather than sculpting.

The neck and jawline

Begin at the base of the neck, at the collarbone. Using the curved edge of the blade, glide upward along the neck in slow, deliberate strokes, always moving in one direction. Repeat four to five times on each side.

Move to the jawline. Starting at the chin, glide outward toward the ear using gentle but firm pressure. This motion stimulates lymphatic flow and helps define the jaw over time.

The cheeks

Position the blade flat against the skin, just beside the nose. Glide outward across the cheek toward the ear, following the natural line of the cheekbone. Keep the pressure steady and the movement slow. Repeat three to four times on each side.

The under-eye area

Switch to the narrower edge of the blade. Starting from the inner corner of the eye, sweep gently outward toward the temple. Use very light pressure here. This motion helps reduce puffiness and improves the circulation that gives the under-eye area a brighter, more rested appearance.

The brow and forehead

From the center of the brow bone, glide toward the temple. Then, from the space between the brows, glide upward toward the hairline. These strokes release tension in the forehead muscles and help soften the appearance of fine lines over time.

How often

Three to four times per week is enough to see results. You do not need to use the contour blade every day. Consistency over weeks matters more than frequency within a single week.

What to expect

After the first use, most people notice immediate depuffing, particularly around the jawline and under-eye area. The longer-term effects, improved tone, better definition, and a more sculpted appearance, build over four to six weeks of regular use.

The contour blade is the final step of the Adèle & Camille ritual. After your clay mask has purified and your oil has nourished, it sculpts and activates. Three steps. Nothing more.
