From Provence to Your Vanity: The Science Behind French Clays & Oils

At Adèle & Camille, every product begins with one simple question — how can nature care for the skin better than we can?

The answer lies in the way we source, treat, and combine our ingredients: French clays and oils, refined through craftsmanship, not chemistry.

The Purity of French Clays

Our clays are sourced from mineral-rich regions of France — lands that have been naturally replenished for centuries.

Unlike many commercial clays, ours undergo a purely mechanical process, never chemical.

Each batch is gently crushed, oven-dried, and refined using an innovative air-selection technique that preserves the clay’s natural minerals and removes impurities.

This precision gives the clays their uniquely soft texture — smooth to apply, easy to rinse, and perfectly balanced for even the most delicate skin.

Clay de Détox (Green Clay) helps remove buildup and absorb excess oil while replenishing the skin with trace minerals. Ideal for the T-zone or areas prone to congestion.

Clay de Rose (Pink Clay) is naturally rich in iron oxide and silica, which help brighten and calm the skin. Perfect for sensitive, tired, or reactive areas.

Used together, they form a complete French cleansing ritual: one to purify, the other to restore.

The Vitality of Cold-Pressed Oils

After cleansing comes nourishment — the essential second step of French simplicity.

Our oils are cold-pressed in France, a process that preserves their natural antioxidants, vitamins, and fatty acids.

Each one serves a different purpose:

Jojoba Oil mimics the skin’s own sebum, helping regulate oil production and maintain hydration.

Plum Oil is rich in Vitamin E and Omega-9, restoring glow and elasticity to dull or dry skin.

Baobab Oil nourishes deeply, improving softness and helping the skin recover from stress or dehydration.

When applied after masking, these oils seal in moisture and reinforce the skin barrier — transforming cleansing into a moment of repair.

The Ritual, Simplified

To recreate the full Adèle & Camille ritual at home:

  1. Mix one spoon of clay with one spoon of water (adjust to your preferred consistency)
  2. Apply Clay de Détox to the T-zone or areas needing deep cleansing, and Clay de Rose on cheeks or sensitive zones
  3. Leave on for 5–10 minutes, allowing it to dry slightly but not completely
  4. Rinse gently with water or the included Konjac Sponge
  5. Finish with oil. Warm a few drops of Jojoba, Plum, or Baobab Oil between your palms and press into clean, damp skin.

This pairing of clays and oils reflects the essence of French simplicity: balance, respect for the skin, and results that last beyond the surface.
